SPAN principal, Peter Pelsinski, visits a Central Park penthouse, only to discover additional attic space that will transform into a 10,000 square foot triplex. Hampshire House is an iconic building that began construction in 1931 and housed residents such as Frida Kahlo.

SPAN Architecture is awarded The Architect’s Newspaper, Top 50 US-Based Architects & Designers Working in Interior Architecture for 2018. In the image from left to right are Partner Peter Pelsinski, Studio Director Andrea Knox, and Partner Karen Stonely.

SPAN enters Blank Space's international competition, "Fairy Tales," with the title Wind and Reeds. The competition focused on "remind(ing) us that we belong in the global context." The 5th annual competition brought submissions from 65 countries, exploring current events through the creative process shown in beautifully crafted short stories and artwork.

The American House includes a collection of diverse contemporary residential designs built by leading architects. SPAN's project, August Moon Little House is included in this collection, illustrating through photographs and plans, their thoughtful solution to topographical challenges and sustainable design.

Architecture Today: Houses includes a collection from 40 award-winning and influential design firms.

SPAN's pro-bono installation wins merit in the AIANY Design Awards in Interiors. The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Show House Installation was set in the Villard Mansion by McKim, Mead and White. SPAN's salon became the gathering space in the grand hall, linking six other rooms.

Karen Stonely is named Vice President of OpenHouseNewYork. The civic non-profit organization provides broad audiences with unparalleled access to the extraordinary architecture of New York and to the people who helped design, build and preserve the city.

SPAN is a gold winner in the inaugural American Architecture Prize for their Hyatt Times Square project, a 55 story, 540 room hotel which features a restaurant, Sky Bar54, spa, gym and meeting spaces. SPAN also received Honorable Mention for the projects, Upper East Side, Gotham West, and Calvin Klein Shenyang.

Principal Pelsinski was recently quoted in the Wall Street Journal Mansion Section, front page (October 12, 2016), for the studio's expertise in townhome design.

Princeton's SOA students enrolled in SPAN principal, Peter Pelsinski's ARC509 course in Spring 2016, presented their work later that year during OHNY Weekend. Five M.Arch students designed, developed, and fabricated a reconfigurable wall made of plywood. This media board allowed participants to view maps and guides while collecting data from a questionnaire completed with gifted engraved pencils.
