SPAN's pro-bono installation wins merit in the AIANY Design Awards in Interiors. The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Show House Installation was set in the Villard Mansion by McKim, Mead and White. SPAN's salon became the gathering space in the grand hall, linking six other rooms.

Karen Stonely is named Vice President of OpenHouseNewYork. The civic non-profit organization provides broad audiences with unparalleled access to the extraordinary architecture of New York and to the people who helped design, build and preserve the city.

SPAN is a gold winner in the inaugural American Architecture Prize for their Hyatt Times Square project, a 55 story, 540 room hotel which features a restaurant, Sky Bar54, spa, gym and meeting spaces. SPAN also received Honorable Mention for the projects, Upper East Side, Gotham West, and Calvin Klein Shenyang.

Principal Pelsinski was recently quoted in the Wall Street Journal Mansion Section, front page (October 12, 2016), for the studio's expertise in townhome design.

Princeton's SOA students enrolled in SPAN principal, Peter Pelsinski's ARC509 course in Spring 2016, presented their work later that year during OHNY Weekend. Five M.Arch students designed, developed, and fabricated a reconfigurable wall made of plywood. This media board allowed participants to view maps and guides while collecting data from a questionnaire completed with gifted engraved pencils.

SPAN Architecture is awarded the American Institute of Architects New York State Award of Merit for the “Westport Pool House" in the project category of Single Family Detached Residence.

SPAN Architecture is awarded the American Institute of Architects New York State Citation Award for “Calvin Klein Collection, Shenyang" in the project category of Commercial: Small Projects. The Collection store is one of eight boutiques including a live mock up of the design reinvention of the Calvin Klein Collection brand.

As quoted from Interiors Magazine “Insider”, ‘At ICFF in New York, interiors hosted a panel discussion, Designing for Small Spaces. Panelists included designer Amur Khamneipur, Karen Stonely of SPAN Architecture (whose work Interiors Magazine will be published in an upcoming issue) and Oliver M. Furth.’

SPAN Architecture presented the Calvin Klein Collections for Edition 7 of the AIANY Interiors Committee Speed Presentation on March 23, 2016. This year's focus was on the best interior projects that "Consider Light" through innovation and imaginative use.

First Fridays are monthly events for Architecture League of New York members to have the opportunity to visit the offices of leading design studios. SPAN hosted December's First Friday in 2015.

SPAN continues to support amazing charities through design with the completion of "Five Boroughs", a collaboration between our own Professor, SPAN Partner Peter Pelsinski, the students of ARCH509 Princeton University School of Architecture, and Open House New York. Used as a fundraising tool at OHNY's 2015 launch party, the canopy spatializes the 1000's of sites that OHNY has been able to open, educating the public on the city's art and architecture over the years.
